PATIENT STORY — Heart & Brain Health Toolkit

“I came in skeptical. I eat very healthy, and I exercise, but my cholesterol stays high. Eight months later, my numbers had changed — without medications — more than I thought was possible. Dr. Druz identified exactly what was driving my lipid pattern and built a protocol that actually worked.”

♥ LDL reduced 49% · Total cholesterol ↓40% · Non-HDL ↓45% · Triglycerides <100 mg/dL · HDL preserved

Why standard cholesterol tests miss the real risk

A basic cholesterol panel shows total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides. It tells you nothing about LDL particle size or number, whether your LDL is driven by inflammation or genetics, whether your Lp(a) is elevated, or what your cardiovascular genetic risk profile looks like. The Heart & Brain Toolkit was designed to answer every question your annual panel leaves open.

What Lp(a) is — and why it matters

Lp(a) is a genetically determined lipid particle that significantly elevates cardiovascular risk. It is not modified by standard diet changes or most lipid-lowering medications. Most patients have never had it measured. The Heart & Brain Toolkit measures Lp(a) as a core component — because knowing your level is the first step to managing your risk.

Cardiovascular genetics — 140 genes analyzed

Your DNA contains risk signals that can be identified decades before a cardiovascular event. The Heart & Brain Toolkit includes polygenic risk scoring for heart disease and Alzheimer's. Understanding your genetic risk profile changes the treatment target, the timing, and the urgency.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

01What is the Heart & Brain Health Toolkit?+
An at-home blood and genetic test measuring 200+ cardiovascular and neurological biomarkers — including advanced lipids, Lp(a), ApoB, vascular inflammation, oxidative stress, and 140 cardiovascular genes. All results are reviewed by Dr. Druz during your Step 1 Explore visit.
02Is this right for me if my cholesterol has always been normal?+
Yes. Many significan’t cardiovascular risk factors — including elevated Lp(a), small dense LDL particles, and genetic cardiovascular variants — do not appear on standard cholesterol tests. This toolkit is designed to find risks that standard panels miss.
03How is the sample collected?+
A fingerstick or phlebotomy blood sample and a cheek swab for genetic material. The process takes approximately 10 minutes at home. No clinic visit required. Overnight fasting is required. Prepaid return envelope included.
04How long until I see results?+
Results are typically ready in 3–4 weeks from the date your sample is received at the CLIA-certified laboratory.
05Is the $999 kit covered by insurance or HSA/FSA?+
HHC is a cash-pay practice. The Heart & Brain Toolkit is typically HSA and FSA eligible. We provide a detailed superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. Confirm with your plan.
