◆ THE JOURNEY · STEP 03 OF 03

Your data is ready. Now we build the plan.

Step 3 is where the data from your HeartWell Toolkit and Step 2 diagnostic testing becomes action. Our team builds and delivers a personalized protocol that combines evidence-based conventional cardiology with integrative therapies — addressing the root causes of your cardiovascular risk, not just managing the downstream numbers.

The right tools for the right patient at the right time

The practice of precision cardiology at HHC recognizes that conventional pharmacological treatments and procedures have an important role — and so do functional medicine, integrative therapies, and lifestyle transformation. We don’t choose one at the expense of the other. We use the right tools for the right patient at the right time.

Your Step 3 Engage visits are built to deliver a targeted set of interventions based on what your testing reveals. If insulin resistance is driving your blood pressure, we address that root cause. If your lipid pattern is driven by inflammation rather than diet, we target the inflammation. If hormonal shifts are accelerating your vascular aging, we address those hormonal drivers with cardiovascular safety as the constant priority.

OUR SIGNATURE PROGRAM

The Fit in Your GENES® Program

Our signature integrative cardiovascular program addresses the root cause drivers of heart disease — metabolic dysfunction, inflammation, oxidative stress, hormonal imbalances, genetics, environmental toxins, sleep, and stress — in a structured, ongoing program with Dr. Druz and the Holistic Heart Centers team.

The program is built on four pillars:
01

Foundational core — comprehensive cardiovascular risk reduction and lipid optimization.

02

Hormonal optimization — addressing adrenal, thyroid, and women’s and men’s hormonal balance.

03

Metabolic flexibility & body composition — normalization of insulin resistance and reduction in visceral and ectopic fat, with emphasis on bone and muscle health.

04

Longevity — cardiovascular longevity optimization and biological age reversal.

Conventional cardiology — when it is needed

The Fit in Your GENES® program does not replace conventional cardiology — it enhances it. When medications are clinically indicated, Dr. Druz prescribes them precisely, with the goal of addressing root causes so that medication burden can be reduced or simplified over time. When procedures are warranted, she coordinates them seamlessly with your broader care team.

We provide evidence-based recommendations on cardiac medications, interventional procedures, and device therapy — in the same visit where we’re addressing nutrition, metabolism, hormones, and lifestyle. This is the integration that defines our practice.

Lifestyle group programs

For patients who want the support and motivation of a group setting, HHC offers Group Programs — structured, clinician-guided group sessions that address nutrition, movement, stress, and metabolic health in a community context.

Insurance & payment

HHC is a cash-pay integrative cardiology practice. We do not bill insurance directly. We provide a detailed superbill after each visit for out-of-network reimbursement submission. Many patients find that FSA and HSA accounts cover HHC physician services and HeartWell Toolkit testing.

As root causes are addressed and your cardiovascular markers improve, medication adjustments may become appropriate — we manage that process carefully, in coordination with your primary care team, guided by objective data.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Step 3, answered.

01What is included in Step 3: Engage?+
Step 3 is your personalized integrative treatment plan — built directly from the findings of your Step 1 Explore consultation or Second Opinion visit and Step 2 Deep-Dive testing and nutritional assessment. Step 3 visits are part of the Fit in Your GENES® framework, including a nutrition strategy, targeted supplementation protocol, lifestyle modifications, and when clinically indicated, medication management or procedural cardiac care. The specific components depend entirely on what your data reveals.
02How long does the Step 3 program take?+
Most patients engage with their Step 3 plan for a minimum of three to twelve months before the first major reassessment. Cardiovascular health optimization is not a short-term fix — it is a sustained process of identifying root causes, implementing interventions, measuring response, and refining the plan. Many patients continue in our membership as they track improvements in their cardiovascular markers, body composition, and overall vitality.
03Can I reduce my medications through this program?+
Many patients are able to reduce or simplify their medication regimens as root causes are addressed and cardiovascular markers improve. This is always a clinical decision made carefully, guided by objective data and in coordination with your broader care team. We never ask patients to stop medications abruptly. Our goal is optimal cardiovascular health with the least medication burden that is safely achievable.
04Do I need to complete Steps 1 and 2 before starting Step 3?+
For most patients, yes — your care plan is built from what your Step 1 consultation and Step 2 testing reveal. However, patients who have already done extensive functional medicine or cardiovascular testing elsewhere may begin Step 3 planning via the Second Opinion visit, which allows Dr. Druz to review existing data and build a treatment plan based on your existing record.
05What is the Fit in Your GENES® program?+
Fit in Your GENES® is HHC’s signature integrative cardiovascular program, designed to address the root cause drivers of heart disease — including metabolic dysfunction, inflammation, oxidative stress, hormonal imbalances, genetics, environmental toxins, sleep, and stress. The program has four pillars: foundation/core cardiovascular risk assessment and risk reduction, hormonal optimization, metabolic flexibility and body recomposition, and cardiovascular longevity.
06Does HHC accept insurance?+
HHC is a cash-pay integrative cardiology practice. We provide a detailed superbill after each visit for out-of-network reimbursement submission. HeartWell Toolkit testing and physician services are typically eligible for FSA and HSA reimbursement. We recommend confirming coverage details with your plan before your visit.
